Jesus has risen! Alleluia! The Easter Salubong

Yes! I've made it! I managed to wake up early this morning to join the Salubong tradition. As early as 4:00AM, the Catholic faithfuls walk their way to the churches to join and celebrate as the Risen Jesus meets his Mother Mary on Easter. Easter Sunday is also popularly called the Pasko ng Pagkabuhay. In this celebration, life-sized images of the Risen Christ and Mother Mary meets half-way in the church, while an angel removes the "veil of sorrow" of Mother Mary to show the joy of the mother seeing his Son risen from the dead. Here in our town, a presentation in honor of Mary and Jesus called the Ang Baté is held. A young lady gives praise to Mary and Jesus and then dances with little girls. Holy Mass is celebrated after the presentation.

Below are some pictures of the said celebration. Happy Easter to all of us faithfuls! Alleluia, the Lord has Risen!
