Ashlee and Pete got married!

Ashlee Simpson (7th Heaven, The Ashley Simpson Show) and Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy) were married Saturday evening, May 17, in an intimate ceremony, according to their spokesperson.

Simpson, 23, wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier and jewels by William Noble as she and Wentz, 28, exchanged vows in front of 150 guests at her parents’ Los Angeles area home.

Dad Joe Simpson performed the non-denominational ceremony, while sister Jessica served as maid of honor. Wentz’s English bulldog, Hemingway, was the ring-bearer. Guests included Jessica’s boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, as well as actor Donald Faison with girlfriend CaCee Cobb.

Simpson said on Friday that she was never the type to dream about her wedding when she was growing up, but changed her tune once she got engaged. “Now that I’m doing it, I definitely have that big dream. It kind of went more fairytale than I thought. I got really into it.” Added Wentz, “She has this amazing imagination and to watch it take place is an awesome thing.”

With the help of wedding planner Mindy Weiss, Simpson got her dream nuptials: The Alice in Wonderland themed reception featured a wedding cake by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings with a top hat, tea pot, stop watch and a pot of flowers on top. The elaborate centerpieces of black beauty roses were by Mark’s Garden. Guests were served Rose Veuve Clicquot champagne followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing to a deejay.

Simpson, who sources say is pregnant with the couple’s first child, and Wentz, the bassist for Fall Out Boy, have been linked since the fall of 2006, when they were spotted kissing at a New York nightclub. They announced their engagement last month.

“He’s a cutie,” Simpson said last year. “He has an awesome personality and kind of brings out the best of me and I knew that even before we were dating. There was just like an awesome connection we had.”

After they’d been dating almost a year, Wentz said, “We’re past the honeymoon period. The truth is, it’s crazy to be able to kiss your best friend. It’s just a really awesome thing.”

Last year, Pete made a buzz about his sexuality. In a Blender interview in March 2007, Wentz alluded to being bisexual, stating that he has kissed males before and that "anybody above the waist is totally fair game." In the May 2007 issue of The Advocate, Wentz opened up about his sexuality, stating that he is sexually attracted to males, but he hasn't had sexual relations with other men because "I'm not a fan of penises".

He explained later in an NPR story in November 2007, saying, "I would never come out and say I'm gay, because I'm not gay. There's part of me that kind of wishes I was gay, and I think that comes from anybody constantly wishing they were in the minority and constantly wants to be fighting everybody off.".

DeGeneres to marry de Portia soon

Ellen DeGeneres and longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi are jumping at the chance to get married.

DeGeneres announced their engagement during a Thursday taping of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” telling the studio audience the news that the California Supreme Court had struck down state laws against gay marriage.

“So I would like to say now, for the first time, I am announcing: I am getting married,” she said during the show, airing Friday.

The studio audience leapt to its feet for a long ovation, and De Rossi (”Ally McBeal,” “Nip/Tuck”) was sitting in the audience, beaming and clapping.

Then DeGeneres cracked: “Thank you. I’ll tell you who the lucky guy is soon.”

The court ruling means same-sex couples could tie the knot in as little as a month. However, religious and social conservatives are seeking to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November that would undo the Supreme Court ruling and ban gay marriage.

DeGeneres, 50, has boldly used TV before to make a stand for gay rights.

In 1997, she brought her character on the ABC sitcom “Ellen” out of the closet, making the show the first on prime-time network TV to have an openly gay lead. The move drew cheers from gay civil rights organizations but was condemned by some religious groups.

A month before, DeGeneres had proclaimed from the cover of Time magazine that she was a lesbian.

DeGeneres, 50, and the glamorous de Rossi, 35, have been a familiar couple at Hollywood events, including the Academy Awards. Previously, DeGeneres had a high-profile relationship with actress Anne Heche.

In a 2005 interview with Allure magazine, the comedian said she hoped she and de Rossi are “together the rest of our lives.”

“I never would have thought my life would have turned out this way,” DeGeneres told the magazine. “To have money. Or to have a gorgeous girlfriend. I just feel so lucky with everything in my life right now.”
