Ashlee and Pete got married!

Ashlee Simpson (7th Heaven, The Ashley Simpson Show) and Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy) were married Saturday evening, May 17, in an intimate ceremony, according to their spokesperson.

Simpson, 23, wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier and jewels by William Noble as she and Wentz, 28, exchanged vows in front of 150 guests at her parents’ Los Angeles area home.

Dad Joe Simpson performed the non-denominational ceremony, while sister Jessica served as maid of honor. Wentz’s English bulldog, Hemingway, was the ring-bearer. Guests included Jessica’s boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, as well as actor Donald Faison with girlfriend CaCee Cobb.

Simpson said on Friday that she was never the type to dream about her wedding when she was growing up, but changed her tune once she got engaged. “Now that I’m doing it, I definitely have that big dream. It kind of went more fairytale than I thought. I got really into it.” Added Wentz, “She has this amazing imagination and to watch it take place is an awesome thing.”

With the help of wedding planner Mindy Weiss, Simpson got her dream nuptials: The Alice in Wonderland themed reception featured a wedding cake by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings with a top hat, tea pot, stop watch and a pot of flowers on top. The elaborate centerpieces of black beauty roses were by Mark’s Garden. Guests were served Rose Veuve Clicquot champagne followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing to a deejay.

Simpson, who sources say is pregnant with the couple’s first child, and Wentz, the bassist for Fall Out Boy, have been linked since the fall of 2006, when they were spotted kissing at a New York nightclub. They announced their engagement last month.

“He’s a cutie,” Simpson said last year. “He has an awesome personality and kind of brings out the best of me and I knew that even before we were dating. There was just like an awesome connection we had.”

After they’d been dating almost a year, Wentz said, “We’re past the honeymoon period. The truth is, it’s crazy to be able to kiss your best friend. It’s just a really awesome thing.”

Last year, Pete made a buzz about his sexuality. In a Blender interview in March 2007, Wentz alluded to being bisexual, stating that he has kissed males before and that "anybody above the waist is totally fair game." In the May 2007 issue of The Advocate, Wentz opened up about his sexuality, stating that he is sexually attracted to males, but he hasn't had sexual relations with other men because "I'm not a fan of penises".

He explained later in an NPR story in November 2007, saying, "I would never come out and say I'm gay, because I'm not gay. There's part of me that kind of wishes I was gay, and I think that comes from anybody constantly wishing they were in the minority and constantly wants to be fighting everybody off.".

DeGeneres to marry de Portia soon

Ellen DeGeneres and longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi are jumping at the chance to get married.

DeGeneres announced their engagement during a Thursday taping of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” telling the studio audience the news that the California Supreme Court had struck down state laws against gay marriage.

“So I would like to say now, for the first time, I am announcing: I am getting married,” she said during the show, airing Friday.

The studio audience leapt to its feet for a long ovation, and De Rossi (”Ally McBeal,” “Nip/Tuck”) was sitting in the audience, beaming and clapping.

Then DeGeneres cracked: “Thank you. I’ll tell you who the lucky guy is soon.”

The court ruling means same-sex couples could tie the knot in as little as a month. However, religious and social conservatives are seeking to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November that would undo the Supreme Court ruling and ban gay marriage.

DeGeneres, 50, has boldly used TV before to make a stand for gay rights.

In 1997, she brought her character on the ABC sitcom “Ellen” out of the closet, making the show the first on prime-time network TV to have an openly gay lead. The move drew cheers from gay civil rights organizations but was condemned by some religious groups.

A month before, DeGeneres had proclaimed from the cover of Time magazine that she was a lesbian.

DeGeneres, 50, and the glamorous de Rossi, 35, have been a familiar couple at Hollywood events, including the Academy Awards. Previously, DeGeneres had a high-profile relationship with actress Anne Heche.

In a 2005 interview with Allure magazine, the comedian said she hoped she and de Rossi are “together the rest of our lives.”

“I never would have thought my life would have turned out this way,” DeGeneres told the magazine. “To have money. Or to have a gorgeous girlfriend. I just feel so lucky with everything in my life right now.”

Signos: Banta ng Nagbabagong Klima

Internationally acclaimed local network GMA produced an in-depth report on the effects of global warming in the Philippines. Many may wonder about the recent changes in climate and frequent occurrences of certain diseases, but now the cause of all these has been answered in this "must-see" documentary. The damage on nature has been done, and its effects are inevitable. Now we must face the harsh reality: Nature is turning against us.

Gathering all the experts in the fields of marine science, agriculture, weather and geophysics, the group (including Nobel Peace Price winner Dr. Josefino Comoso, Senior Research Scientist, Nasa) tackled the tell-tale signs of global warming that the Philippines is currently experiencing.

Based from what I understand in that documentary, we can group the signs into four: Climate Change, Epidemics, Rise in temperature, and Rise in Sea Level.
Global warming changes the climate in such a way that storms are often to strong, stronger that previous years. We've experienced this just recently: Storm signals reaching 4, strong winds and large amount of rain fall.
The change in the cycle of weather brings about certain diseases, the number of affected individuals rising to an epidemic level. Dengue is one of the most popular and typical of this type. A certain barrio in the Philippines even suffered from schistosomiasis, or "snail fever", due to an increase in the population of snails in their river.

Due to the collection of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, it creates what they call "Green House Effect" wherein the Earth's heat is trapped within our atmosphere rather that being radiated in space. In effect, the Earth's temperature is rising. Rivers dry, plants and crops die of drought.
The increase in the Earth's temperature affects the temperature of the bodies of water. Coral bleaching due to an increase in the temperature of the sea, is recurring more frequently that corals find short a period of time for their recovery. If this happens, marine life will suffer as coral reefs are the sea's primary producers in the marine food chain.
The rise in temperature causes the ice at the Polar regions to melt, causing the sea level to rise. When heavy rain pours, accumulated water will take time before it settles and dry out. In time, low-leveled cities will be submerged in water.

But there is still hope. One major solution that the researchers has suggested is the reduction in the burning of fuels. Power plants that use fossil fuels are the biggest contributors of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, so a reduction in the use of electricity will make a difference in the emission of these power plants. The use of natural and renewable power sources such as sun and wind are also alternative solutions for generating energy rather that burning fuels. If we act now, we can still save our planet. As Dr. Josefino stressed out, “The planet earth is the only entity in the Universe that we know can sustain life and at that, very intelligent life. We don’t want to lose this planet.”

DJ Montano VS Brian Gorell

After more than one month blogging of Brian Gorell talking about "The Talented Mr. Mantano", & after 2 million hits on his blog, Pinoy socialite and lifestyle columnist Delfin "DJ" Montano finally speaks up to deny that he owes $70,000 to the Australian. DJ Montano said he would take Gorrell to court to vindicate his name and that of his family and friends whom Gorrell dubbed as the"Gucci Gang" and ridiculed in his blog.

We can expect that "The Talented Mr. Mantano" blog will be closed because DJ Montano writes to Google and Blogger.com and request to stop the blog, which he points out that the defamation he gets is clearly a violation of Blogger.com's TOS.

In the interview, some of the following points were explained: There were no $70,000 involved, DJ Montano is not a cocaine addict, there were no business plans with Brian Gorell, "I'm not a thief" says DJ, a Libel case will be filed here or in Australia, and in Africa too, he's is not hiding and he didn't left the countryr.

Brian Gorell immediately posted a reply after he watched the interview:

"I am just shattered. I have just watched the entire interview. Just devastated at the lies. I just don't understand how he could deny everything. I don't understand how the entire family can deny the scam/ theft. To see his mother. Say those things. I hurt so deeply. She found a way to brag about how much money they have. Rubbing salt into my wounds. B*TCH."

Earth Hour Philippines

The Philippines joined the Earth Hour movement - a one-hour lights off to save electricity. Together with Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Israel, Denmark, Dubai, Canada and the United States, this movement wants to impart awareness on the issues of Global Warming. Less use of electricity means less burning of fuel on power plants. Less burning of fuel means less carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
